Unknown Virus

The whole day today I’m fixing my laptop because of this single virus that i couldn’t know it’s name.

Back then i was using bit defender antivirus as my only antivirus but the antivirus was unable to do anything against this virus.

The virus that i’m talking about is something that will caused this few things happen to your laptop or pc;

  1. Task manager disable by administrator
  2. Antivirus was shut down (almost the same like the brontoks c but last time this brontoks can be deleted manually)
  3. New antivirus installation is disable
  4. You are unable to see all the hidden files as it was disable by administrator
  5. Regedit was disable
  6. Unable to make wireless connection
  7. Firewall disable

Because of this thing, i have to format my laptop and all in drive c become empty. But for sure i also do back up but i know that the files inside is also infected as it happen that i open my external harddisk after the 1st time reformat. Anyway the second time (which is now) i did use internet to install all the software needed.

There is a big probability that this is caused by the malware  so i might get a malware protection for my self too. By this time if you are with me i wish to show you that i installed 3 antivirus running in my laptop.

The antivirus that had been my choice is AVG free, Bit Defender Free and Avast Home edition. The memory usage by this 3 antivirus is the same with the memory usage when using kaspersky antivirus. So for me i prefer to use more compare to one. There might be software crash, but in my previous exerience this had never occur.

But the way you installed the antivirus must be following the sequence. AVG must be the first one, followed by avast and then bit defender. Maybe you can change the sequence of avast and bit defender but for sure AVG must be the first one to go.

Hoping that this will work, so right now I will fix my external hard disk. Wish me luck.

  1. Surely it is not fun when we are infected with computer virus. Based on my experience AVG antivirus free edition is still the best.

  2. How I wish I know how to fix my computer. Last sunday, my son was playing online games when suddenly a pop-up appeared on the screen. It says, the PC is infected with various virus. It also asked us to download a program namely install.exe

Since I have no idea what to do I just switched off the PC. I have to bring it to the shop 🙁 which is a troublesome for me

  3. It’s true Eddy.. AVG was the best.. But i stop using it last time when the news says it did wipe some important windows file and caused windows failed to load. I know they already fixed it so I used it back now. I infected because AVG is not around…haha..

Owh ya phil, You might think of using some antivirus and malware. Just go to google.com and search for “top ten antivirus”, and click the one from topten review. With that you see what you will like to download. For us a student, we prefer a free one so we’ll usually go for Bit Defender Free or AVG Free. But if you could find a kaspersky it would be good as lots of my friend like that. Anyway for me Kaspersky just not suitable for my laptop as it caused the laptop performance to decrease (slower i mean)
About the pop-up that appeared, it is most probably caused by malware or spyware and usually installed when you are using Explorer. The way to fix this is by using spyware or malware remover which you can find by googling in google.com too. After you remove that, you might think of changing your browser to mozilla firefox or opera. I suggest you to download opera at http://www.opera.com as it is the best for me for the past years.

  4. Thanks for the valuable info.

I tried and switch on my PC last night, ok pula! But the pop-up keep coming telling that my PC is infected with trojan or something. There were options like ‘heal’ ‘put in vault’ etc. I pressed ‘heal’ but it still come out. In the end, I pressed put in vault. Nothing happened after that but by that time, I switched of my PC already.

I am currently using AVG free and my browser is mozilla firefox.

  5. I recommend BitDefender Internet Security, it worth’s every cent I spent on it. I tried a lot of AV’s but none of them is so good as bitdefender, after I uninstalled Norton IS and installed bitdefender IS it found a lot of viruses that norton wasn’t aware of.
